Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease & flour a tube pan or 2 loaf pans. Do NOT use a decorative pound cake tube pan. When this cake is turned out, it doesn't stay upside down like some other pound cakes.
Cream the sugar, butter, & Crisco. Beat well. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Next, add the 7-Up & flower alternately. Then add the flavoring.
Carefully pour into prepared pan & bake at 300 degrees for approximately 1 hour & 45 minutes. The cake should be golden brown & a toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean. Remove cake from oven & let it rest in pan for 10 minutes before turning out.
To turn out the cake, you will need the cake plate that you wish to put the cake on & another plate to use for turning. Place turning plate, face down on top of cake in pan. Carefully turn the cake out on the turning plate. Next, place your cake plate, face down on the bottom of the cake. Then, carefully turn the cake over & remove turning plate from the top.
